When I saw the Exorcist (way back when), I being a grown man slept with the lights on for months. Today’s films and tech make that look like child’s play. As a side note, Jaws scared the crap outta me too.
I was traumatized by “Trilogy of Terror” as a small child – the Zuni doll scared the hell out of me! I tried to watch it on YouTube this year…nope – STILL can’t do it.
It’s interesting when you find something scarier only after the fact. I thought the original “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” was lame while watching, but it made me afraid of the dark that night.
when I was little my eight (yes, eight) yo sister was death terrified by Jurassic Park and woke my mom up at 3 am bc she was scared of them and couldn’t sleep. me, 5 loved every moment of it
This is why they sell anti monster spray. The idea is to apply this along with your child, so they’re not passively scared but actively confident. The secret ingredient? Our encouraging words.

Turn on the vacuum cleaner and leave it in the closet a few minutes. It messes them up for days.
