Don’t even get me started on plus sized clothes. One store just takes the regular sizes and makes them bigger. We don’t fit that way people! And yes, much of it is old lady stuff. It’s getting better, but often there isn’t anything that I like and that fits properly. Btw, I have a trench, it’s a classic. I tie the belt in the back. My winter jacket is an anorak style, you can pull the string just enough to give you a waist, but not tight across the stomach. It’s a real struggle to dress well. And the prices! Ok, I’ll stop there.
I swiped my dad’s trenchcoat when I was 14 – it was from his time in the Navy, and he never wore it. It was huge on me (daddy was 6’2", I hadn’t reached 5’4" yet), but I loved it. Then my brother hit his last growth spurt, and it got donated to the cause.
Now I have further incentive to go through all the stuff in storage! The trench coat might be in there, because my brother never threw ANYTHING away. Why else would I have a storage locker?
Go with the trench coat, Amanda! It’s comfy, classic, and looks great on anyone, just adjust how you wear the belt. Almost as good as denim…
OK, gals, listen up! Years back I had to get out of my sweatpants and flannels to go to this hoitsy toitsy event. There was this plus size boutique in my hood (since closed, unfortunately) and there at a trunk sale I met this wonderful designer, Anna Scholz. Anyhow, she still has an online shop. Gorgeous stuff! You’re not going to find Old Navy prices, but if you’ve got some fancy schmancy event coming up, take a look!
