Polar Vortex doesn’t trust anyone else to do it. maybe he’s still upset that Pauly failed. Sometimes, if you want something done right, you gave to do it yourself.
If the fans conclude that the writing team will never resolve its plots, then they will probably stop following the work.
It’s said that no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the viewing public, but sometimes a show comes along that promises stories so complex and subtle that they’ll make War and Peace look like “Frog and Toad Are Friends”. If it’s done right, then this is catnip to a certain sector of the viewing public, who will often give such a show a surprisingly long time to set up its plot arcs before getting antsy for a resolution. The catch for the creator is that, the longer an arc runs and the more complicated it gets, the more awesome its payoff must be for it to feel satisfying to the fans. It’s much easier for a writer to keep kicking the can — piling mysteries on top of mysteries — rather than finish storylines.
No matter what our mental-gymnastics-fiend-commenters might say (and I can see that they are always ready to post really early), today’s strip is an a.l.l-t.i.m.e-l.o.w. Mikey, you have brokeb your own record! Mr. Staton, respected creator of E-Man, your art is not affected by the diminishing quality of storylines. Where’s Still da Man when we need him? Who can come and avenge us mortified readers?
I’m quite relieved that the voice demanding the gun didn’t belong to “Peanut’s” dad. That would have been such a brazen impossibility. It being simply a voice bubble arrow directional mistake is much more forgivable.
Besides, I looked ahead in the script – you escape and pursue a relationship with New Papa working the file cabinets, while I get “offed” by Tracy. It’ll be easier for you if you haven’t shot at him…
I think Mike has gotten to like Devil and is trying to make her a sympathetic character, perhaps capable of reforming, like Blaze Rize and Sprocket Nitrate. Shooting Tracy, even if she misses, would cross the Gouldian Moral Event Horizon and doom her.
Usually a shoot out with Tracy ends up with the villain dying; however, they are in a bell tower and poetic justice will have Polar Vortex being incapacitated by the bells ringing. See “Kelly’s Heroes” for an example.
like all true villians, he has to kill the hero himself. ie, “stand back! tracy is mine!” Bam bam, thud. next villian, please! however, we can’t lose dick tracy now can we?
Though the “why” is unclear, what is clear is that Piotr is crazed over killing Tracy himself, to the point of really reckless action up in the bell tower as he snatches the compact pistol from Devila’s hand and (as I think) rushes to the stairs down, intending to race below to confront and kill Tracy. At best, he may get off a wild shot or two before Tracy and/or Sam drill him through the vitals….

He wants to be the one known as ending Dick Tracy. What they need is a genre savvy villain to understand this and will send minions to do it.

Good morning™, deprived shooters !
Polar seems inordinately angry like as if he has a long running feud with Tracy. She looks frightened in P. 3.

Comic heroes are lucky to always have very stupid villains.

Speaking of overly complicated plots…I’m still trying to decide if I’ll continue on to season 6 of Blacklist. Any opinions?

They all say that. They all end up in prison or dead.

And also…Why doesn’t Piotr have his own gun? Because he’s “the brains”? I don’t think so.
