I’m guessing they didn’t hear about the recent incident where this father made his daughter walk to school in the cold as punishment for bullying some other students.
In 1956 my father took pity on us kids and drove us to school in a blizzard. As we watched him drive away, the school principle was at the door saying school was closed because there was a blizzard. Walked the 2 miles home. Still a very vivid memory for me.
In my three years of Junior High, I walked across a very large fenced-in area with a creek running through and even hills and trees, because it was a short-cut. But it was also a cow pasture… with a bull. ☺
Well, if the school had let me wear my sledding clothes to school, then take them off and have a hot bath when I got there, then change into school clothes….

That logic worked for me at their age, in the 1950’s.

Complaining about walking in the snow and wanting to go sledding? Makes perfect sense to me. Anybody notice my sarcasm?

At least they don’t have to school walking in knee deep snow – 5 miles – uphill – both ways…

When we had a snow day because the roads were dangerous, all my students would drive to the Mall.

We had to walk to school in the snow all the time. And it was uphill both ways!

We used get up at 7AM on Saturdays to watch comics. My mom would remind us about how hard it was for us to get up for school during the week, though.
