Oh, I get it – the last panel is the person out-of-character! ROFL!!!!!

See, this one is a fourth-wall joke too but at least she actually makes a joke out of it instead of making it the joke. I may not be into the meta aspect, but I can still appreciate the punchline on its own merits.

Even worse is playing against type. Like Hoss Cartwright being a gentle giant, a sentimental sap. Or Mr. T with his fear of flying. And on.

Sluggo’s expression is very Monday

I’ve fallen into the habit of reading “Periquita” before Nancy. It’s interesting to see for which ones the humour translates without relying on language, since my Spanish is … limited.

This one did.

For whatever reason, today’s effort did not “grab me” as much as most of the New Nancy do.

I do however, like the sort-of crazy expression on the “Anti-Aunt Fritzi”.

And, I do find the drawing of the “Anti-Sluggo” to be fun as well.

I agree with Sluggo, too.

It’s all in the delivery.

As long as the Anti-Sluggo, the Anti-Aunt Fritzi, and the Anti-Nancy do not come in contact with Sluggo, Aunt Fritzi, and Nancy, we’re safe. Direct contact between the characters and the anti-characters would result in mutual explosive destruction, right?

Aunt Fritzi saying “think I might” is like Mr Spock with a van dyke.

“Meta” comes to the comics…
