It’s the whole “Oh, spelling and grammar don’t really matter.” Mostly you just end up looking stupid, like the ‘instructor’ above, but that sort of thing can get you killed, especially when a panda comes into your restaurant and “eats, shoots and leaves” instead of “eats shoots and leaves”. In the first case he dines, blows everyone away and then departs. In the second case, he dines on young and tender plants (shoots) along with the foliage of older plants (leaves).
It DOES matter. Ignoring it causes you to say something different from what you think you are saying.
