If you are making a statement about a specific player, put his name on the jersey. If it’s just a general statement about the team’s policies, then choose a jersey number that is out of service. The current holder of #55 is clearly not the person pictured here.
Not really fair, Drew. The NFL put him on the exempt list—he’s not allowed to play. Slam the Redskins hard, but the league, as a separate entity, does not condone the behavior.

Why wouldn’t the Redskins or any other team sign him?
As Mike Peterson on CSotD notes, it’s not as if he committed a REALLY SERIOUS crime, like Colin Kaepernick.
