They used to be sold among candy. Kids would put them in their teeth and look like they had big red lips. They weren’t very tasty. And as to the decade I don’t remember seeing them beyond the fifties.
Well Rover you are more patient than our Alex, since once he messed up an "uba head (ugly toy with weird faces LOL but he loved them, I nicknamed them that) he’d go upstairs to his “magic closet” (the plaace where all his toys were we bought him) and he’d bark and bark till one of us (usually me) would go up and grab a new one for him to take downstairs! Of course, first I got hugs and kisses….remember 95 lbs of pure muscle with his paws on my shoulders and licking my face LOL
Though I will say when Christmas came he’d go over and sniff at the presents, never opened one but he’d sniff his toys out and then I would pick them up and put them in the closet…of course I’d get a look of disdain LOL
Do any of you remember the straws that had some kind of fruit flavored powders in them? I don’t remember it was something like cool-aid or what. Seems like the paper covering them was white with stripes to show the flavor, orange, purple, green, yellow, for orange, grape, lime, lemon, etc. This was in the 60’s.

Wax lips? That’s a new one on me. Must be a 60s / 70s thing.
