It could be worse. She might decide to take up the bagpipes. I like the pipes, but I don’t think I want to be within a mile of somebody learning how to play them.
When I got my first snare drum (in the 5th grade) it came with something called a practice pad. You could still hear it inside the house, but it wasn’t nearly as loud as the drum and the neighbors didn’t have to suffer. And these days they have electronic drum kits, so you can use headphones and keep all the loud noise to yourself.
