Everything about this cartoon, from the marquee to the caption, screams 1972. Especially the idea that a spelling error in a movie script would somehow be spotted by the audience, not the word processor.
I think the problem with movies today is that a lot of the folks in the industry grew up there – Candice Bergen, the Fondas, etc. were all exposed to a pretty rarified idea of what live is. On the other hand, the older actors – Jimmy Stewart, Edgar Bergen, Henry Fonda, John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Kirk Douglas – all came from “folks like us” and their art imitated our lives. Maybe Hollywood is another place where the swamp needs to be drained.
Bad movies are an easy problem to solve, don’t go! Hollywood is a very efficient copy machine, if it makes money they will churn out endless variations on the same thing. If a movie bombs, it will be dropped like a hot coal.
I don’t go to movies. If based on a book, it is useless trying to find the original plot/characters. If an ‘original’ idea, it is a genre retelling/copy of everything else out there. The remakes are the worst, The first one was good enough, why try to improve on the original plot, cast, and cinematography. Rant over. lol. I do save a lot of money that way.
Shows a complete lack of imagination and vocabulary. Senseless nasty language means the writers and producers think their audience cannot understand words with more than 4 letters. It’s insulting.
1.) Shock value. 2.) Having been forced for over 40 years to be limited to “Gosh, golly and gee-whiz that hurts,” after a character has been shot point blank with a shotgun.
There are situations where “gosh, golly, and gee-whiz” are inadequate to express appropriate reactions to the situation being depicted. In those cases, more tasteless language would be expected. However, there are adjectives that don’t begin with “f”. When any book, movie, or whatever, fails to be more diverse in it’s choice of language, they are simply either stupid or they think that their audience is. Neither encourages me to keep reading or watching. And, as far as shock value, in the current world situation I doubt that anything short of a nuclear bomb, in the IMMEDIATE neighborhood, would shock anyone?

I hooked up a Hulu, subscribed to Amazon and Netflix videos and was done with them in 8 months. I’d heard/seen ENOUGH !
