My mother made me Hungarian Goulash during WWII when I was about Gracie’s age. I refused to touch it until, finally, I was allowed to go to bed. Many years later as an adult, I tried it again and it was delicious and I was immediately guilty for having ignored a dish she had worked so hard and used up precious ration coupons to make. But, sadly, she had already passed and it was too late to apologize. Sorry, Mom.
I tried everything, very little I didn’t like so my mom was always fine with it. Now my sister and brother wouldn’t even taste it and just say I don’t like it…didn’t work with my mom.

The thing with food is, if it looks or smells repulsive to me, I’m not willing to put it in my mouth.

Very similar to today’s U.S. Acres strip
