With the current crop of politicians, reporters do not have to make anything up. It’s more a case of drinking out of a fire hose. They have to delete some stories because they simply have more than will fit.
The history of political journalism is fascinating. The things they said back in the 19th century would make the fake-news abut our present President look tame. Presidents Addams, Jefferson, Lincoln among others had things printed about them that just would not be printed outside of a xxx-smut strip.
