Went into the shelter looking for a kitten. Saw a four year old cat gazing at me with her big green eyes. Fell in love with her at first sight, and Gracie gave us ten wonderful years. Go for it, Tank.
DON’T… Dogs are wonderful, but they are living, feeling creatures. Tank, your job has you away all day, and traveling all over the world. It isn’t fair to the dog.
The best dogs I have ever had were rescues. My last canine pal, who was with me for over 10 years, was a 90 lb. APBT. He was not only rescued from an abusive owner but was handicapped – he was deaf from birth. He was my constant companion and best friend.
When I decided to move to Ecuador, I knew I would be unable to take him due to his age and many other factors. Fortunately, I found a terrific, loving family who spoiled him as much as I did. He passed away this year at the ripe old age of 16.
When I was a kid, back in the age of black & white TV, I knew of two other kids with purebred dogs. Now, in the geezer village where I live, all I see are purebreds.
Stream the “Adam Ruins Everything” segment on purebreds and stick to the rescue, mix-breed critters.
Two of our dogs were rescues. The Mrs and I think that we were the ones really rescued. We now have 5 cats, all from a shelter or foundlings and 3 dogs ( a pair of “free puppies” (not those first rescues) from different sources and the runt of the first/last litter). The girls are home from university and we are all settled down watching movies (Casablanca and my favorite Donna Reed movie, Picture of Dorian Gray and a whole day of B & W classics) and computing and cooking and baking and most of all, having our laps and keyboards full of our furry family members. Life is good. Get the dog Tank, you will be pleasantly surprised when you take him for a run. Who knows, you might run into that nice lady you met while running earlier this year.
My mom’s black cat was a stray, but she didn’t get him at the pound. He just walked into her yard one day from the woods weak and malnourished. She nursed him back to health and had him checked at the vet and today he’s a big healthy friendly kitty.

Tank is about to learn the joys of a rescue dog. He will learn that he had no idea how empty his life was before the dog

I think he fell in love. Honestly, I avoid going to those places because…I would adopt ALL OF THEM! I can barely resist…

If you don’t believe in love at first sight, visit an animal shelter. If that doesn’t change your mind, visit another one.
I do agree with those that say that Tank’s lifestyle is wrong for adoption at this time. Don’t look him in the eye, Tank.
