I don’t know whether to say “touché” or “touchée.”

Your father is a man, Patty. You’ll have to come up with some better examples than that. How about Joan of Arc, Elizabeth I, Florence Nightingale, Clara Barton, Susan B. Anthony, Marie and Irene Curie, Grace Humiston, Alice Paul, and Amelia Earhart, just to name a few?

You’re naming US presidents and… women.

Schulz delicately ventures into “Yo Mama” jokes.

interesting examples but the strip is mostly about how kids bicker about who’s better and yet their world is small and simple, where Mommy can be more important than famous presidents.

That should be a negative if you’re talking about Sherman’s mother…

And just in case that is not enough for you, Washington had a mother, Jefferson had a mother, and Lincoln had a mother.

I’m reminded of a classic exchange between Ralph and Alice on The Honeymooners. Ralph is holding forth on how all the great things in the world were accomplished by men:

Ralph (smugly): I’ll give you a perfect example. There’d be no America if it wasn’t for Christopher Columbus.

Alice (deadpan): There’d be no Christopher Columbus if it wasn’t for his mother.

There would be no men if there were no women to give birth to them.
