Technically, if the ball does not cross the foul line it is not a pitch and cannot be a ball or strike. This case would be a balk because CB made a pitching motion but failed to deliver the ball.

It appears that Schroeder has found his position behind the plate now. He’s grown up in the last several weeks.

Hey, he loves the game and is trying!

How can you call that a ball! At least let it reach the plate before calling it. Sure, it’ll still be a ball then, but right now it’s a joke of a pitch.
