I think it means he faced Beethoven away while he plays Tchaikovsky

Why does Beethoven look like a sideburn-less Richard Wagner? Usually Schulz drew him better than this.

Or Brahms. Schroeder might like Brahms even better than Beethoven.

See, he can play any composer, just not when his idol’s bust is watching.

This is the first time I’ve not seen an actual staff, clef, & key signature in something Schroeder plays.
