Lately I keep coming across the statement that if you’re down in a well and look up, you can see the stars in the daytime. Since I only read this in fiction, can anyone tell me if it’s actually true? As in, have you seen this yourself? (Though who spends time down in wells is open to question.)
How many folks living in a city would say this now? I was on another page where people were talking about how they could go their whole lives without ever seeing any stars if they never got beyond the city, and what their reaction was the first time they saw stars.
I guess we can take from this that “Peanuts” takes place in a small town that’s far from the big city rather than a suburb. According to the “Peanuts” Wiki it takes place in Hennepin County, Minnesota, but another source says it’s Charles Schulz’s home from 1958 to his death, Santa Rosa, California.

Very clear out a few nights back, I was able to see 3 Gallilean moons of Jupiter with binocs. Not stars but still cool to see.

Ten sounds about right if you count them from the middle of town here.

For most purposes that seems like a suitably close approximation in infinity.

Ah, so Lucy thinks the sky is an old time decorated lantern with just ten candles/stars shining their light through the billions of holes in the tin.

That’s as high as she can count, so that is sufficient.
