Let’s see, October 30, 1953. Disney released The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad October 5, 1949, (Washington DC premier) so that’s already four years old when this runs. And the second half of the Disney film’s basis is first published March 15, 1820, along with fellow The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. short stories John Bull and The Pride of the Village. Over a hunred thirty-three years before this strip. Given the way Schulz ages the kids, Lucy may be four at this point (and her birthday is in March). May not have seen The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad when it first came out, but I suppose maybe some theaters had copies to show. And certainly possible her folks or day care/nursery school teacher had read her The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
