Looks like a well rehearsed ploy by Pig-Pen to get all the candy….every time.

Although I’m no Peanuts expert, Pig Pen seems a bit less of a positive character in these early strips than he was later.

He left you the bag and the curb.

The expression on Charlie Brown’s face in the third cel says everything and is priceless. Yech!!!

The coloring people could have done a better job than to leave PP’s hair with blotches of white showing through.

Go ahead, be a pig and have ’em all! :D

He did mature well later on though…..

Looks like Pig Pen was a menace to public health in his early appearances. Never mind that “sands of Babylon” stuff.

I remember teaching my grubby young nephew to take a piece of candy off the top of the dish, not off the bottom. I still remember him plunging his hand into the dish as far in as it would go.

Oh, good grief, Pig Pen!

And the solution to this situation… drop a piece of candy into his hand
