Violet’s dad has great big new car payments, too.

Cars can be superfluous if you can get by in other ways. Ever since moving overseas I’ve gotten around via jeepneys, taxis or Chuck Taylors ever since. No regrets, although I MAY hedge my bets and get a motor scooter or electric bike.

Charlie Brown is right. Family is more important than material goods.

I knew a doctor from NYC who never owned a car in his life, and he was about to retire!

I love it. Charlie Brown has a great relationship with his dad who is a barber. This will become a theme.

It seems clear that Violet’s family was one of the wealthier ones in the neighborhood. One lecture she gave Charlie Brown on sweets makes me suspect she was a dentist’s daughter.
