Besides “Three Pigs” and “Little Red Riding Hood” (and I guess “Peter and the…”), what other stories have wolves as the antagonist?

Poncho might like “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”

If I am ever forced to do karaoke, This would be my song of choice, love to howl. Here it is paired with a Betty Boop classic.

The other day I was surprised to learn that Rachmaninoff wrote a little piano piece called “Little Red Riding Hood”. There is no mistaking the woodsman’s ax at the end.

Oh yeah. Read the room. I suppose if you stop about half way through the wolf comes out on top. Just leave out the pesky Karma bit.

Chaz are you reading the end first ? Fairy Tales usually teach one a lesson if they pay attention ;-)

Try playing Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev. Everybody survives, even the duck. My favorite version is Arthur Fiedler conducting The Boston Pops with Alec Guinness narrating.

Try reading the fairy stories as they were originally written.

What is now told as Fairy tales.. were original stories to warn children of dangers in their lives. Much like the teachings of early civilizations.. that later were written down and became religious dogma. The concept of “kosher” being just one of many examples.

In early stories, fairies were not cute little sprites granting wishes. According to Wikipedia they were often blamed for birth deformities, etc. and people wore charms to ward them off. Interesting article.
