Y’all stop trying to take the funny out of these strips. Of course it is inconsistent. It is part of what makes it funny. We all understand that sometimes you bend the rules because “he’s keeping my feet warm”. Those who are perfect about being consistent won’t find this funny. It is because we can see ourselves in this story that makes it delightful.
I have a photo of Mom, Dad and I eating Christmas dinner when I was a kid. You can clearly see me in my itchy red dress resting my bare feet on the back of my black lab BoBo—much more comfy than the black patent leather shoes I’d started the day wearing.
