my reaction is the same as snoopy’s

You start with the story of your life when the only thing you needed to say was “My mom and dad took me to Daisy Hill puppy farm and we bought Snooopy”?

Snoopy never really belonged to Charlie Brown at the very beginning of “Peanuts”, did he? When did it become official?

So Snoopy was a therapy dog.

In the early strips it wasn’t clear who owned Snoopy. Look at February 2nd 1951 and September 29th 1951. I think Charlie Brown is hiding something!

“…I’ve been retconned!”

Not really accurate considering what was shown in the animated special Snoopy’s Reunion.

It all happened before the beginning, so we didn’t get to see it.

It just occurred to me that Charlie Brown is actually the early years of Brutus Thornapple!

It seems to have retconned it and became official with this comic.

I have been a rabid fan of “Peanuts” since I was in elementary school. I thought I had seen them all, but had somehow missed this one. I am fascinated by this bit of back story Schulz. I could have told you the story of the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm, and knew of Snoopy’s brothers. But this little story was brand new to me.

Very similar story to how I ended up with my current dog. Only I was at Lowe’s and a couple of bullies poured a 5 gal bucket of sand over my head. Then I started crying and my wife took me to a Lab Rescue Center…

And eventually Charlie Brown found out it was a used dog.

Considering the time frame he’s describing, the two other kids were probably Shermie and Patty.
