About books. . I prefer to hold a book in my hands. Turn actual pages. I know about Kindle but it is not for me. I buy books that I want to keep forever. The rest I go to the library. It’s a wonderful place. Sorry, I guess I am an old-fashioned kind of gal. I am 81 and you can’t change me now.
Besides reading, my best friends and I would also walk to the beach, or to a friend’s house and then walk together to stores (not only in our towns but nearby towns), or sometimes walk to a town that had both a ferry and a bus or to another one with a train station and then go somewhere else. Typically, there was a LOT of walking on weekends and some walking outside of school hours, no matter where we were. (Yes, we had good figures as well as laying down better bones and having better general health thanks to that, and we are still reaping certain health benefits decades later.)

Look, Luann! Your mom is doing something else, “unbelievable” these days: She’s reading a newspaper!

I read a newspaper online but I read my local newspaper from the town I grew up in delivered the old-fashioned way.

Unless you were way out in the country, there were definitely malls in the 60s. I spent plenty of time there when I was in high school.

I generally read as well. Or developed and printed photos I’d taken in school during the week

It would be good if there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them.
