Reminds me of an unpleasant memory. I played a lot of squash in grad school, because it was easy to get a court. Since it was the 1970s, we didn’t use eye protection. A squash ball is just small enough so it can hit your eyeball without hitting any of the surrounding bone to lessen the impact. My left eye — my good eye, with much better vision — was out of commission during the semester with the largest number of endless readings. Luckily, it fully recovered after a few weeks.

You know, these enhancements would work for just about any commercial sport. I’d actually pay to watch extreme baseball.
