I used to work in an office where, one day, somebody started a bag of microwave popcorn, walked away and forgot about it. Several minutes later, it was badly scorched, set off the smoke alarms, and stank up the entire building. The boss unilaterally declared an all-out ban on microwave popcorn from that day on.

I remember a former sister-in-law worked as a realtor, and office was getting messy, she exploded. She vocally stated she is not a office maid or their mom, make a mess clean it up office is not your home a business and should look like a business. She was praised.
Posted a sign in the breakroom on Wed – Clean it up – or else – (you have until Fri) Nothing was done – come Friday everything in the room was tossed in the trash and hauled out to the dumpster – didn’t have a messy breakroom from then on…

Okay, neither husband nor I has ever worked anywhere there is a break room, but
When we got married in our late 20’s, yes, his mother still cleaned his room, did his laundry, and cooked any meals he ate at home.
