Reading War and Peace one word per day is maybe only marginally more painful than reading long series comic strips in newspapers (eg The Phantom) one strip per day.

Someone should break it to Snoopy that at one word per day, it will take over 1600 years to read War and Peace.

Wait until 2016 and watch the BBC miniseries. But don’t watch the Henry Fonda/King Vidor 1956 film. What a piece of you know what. Hell, by 2016, you might be up to Chapter 2.

I don’t feel so bad now about reading ten or twenty pages a day sometimes.

“Well Prince”. Is that really how it begins?

If Snoopy’s going to read War and peace one word a day, it will take him 1,607 years and 331 days to finish. This strip was originally published in 1972, so that would mean he finishes it in 3580.

Lessee… there are approximately 560,000 words in War and Peace (English translation) so 560,000 days is about 80,000 weeks or about 1533 years. hmm.

Maybe Snoopy heard Simon & Garfunkel singing “Slow down you move too fast; you’ve got to make the morning last.”

I’ve never read War and Peace, but it’s always come across to me as one of those things that are over hyped to the point of absurdity. I could be wrong about that, though. Sorry if I’ve offended anyone.
