From the commercials I’ve heard, both Siri and Alexa have feminine voices, and Alexa is, in the US, a girl’s name. The female voice is a deliberate and established marketing ploy – it sounds less threatening, more soothing, and more inviting than male voices do on the whole. This is from studies done decades ago, they used to teach it in marketing classes, and may still.
Basically, that voice entices people to buy the device, and then use it without worry.
