One of these years, those four remaining teams will get into a Super Bowl.

Probably all four of those teams will make it to the Super Bowl before the Mariners make it to the World Series.

I can’t watch football on TV because every time I try it’s 1 minute of play followed by 10 minutes of commercials.

I suspect the reason my father fell asleep watching football on Sunday afternoons was boredom, only he wouldn’t admit it.

I can’t believe the football is in play for only about 11 minutes — I thought it was more like 8 minutes — plus I thought the average game was longer.

Only sport I like to watch is curling. The stones are in play a lot more than 11 minutes. It is also more interesting.

American football is unwatchable because of the endless breaks, yet americans think soccer is boring. Why? In soccer the ball is in in play all the time.

Most of the plays in football are from 4-8 seconds long. The games last so long now because of all the official instant replays.

Cleveland did win the NFL championship before it was called the Superbowl. BTW, why is it called a “world championship” when they never play any other country? It is only the USA championship. BTW the NFL did play the CFL once in the 60s…and Hamilton of the CFL won that game.

I actually timed a game with a stop-watch once – came out to 16 minutes of play.

I just record the game to watch later and then fast-forward all the commercials, etc.

What do they mean by “the ball is in play for only about 11 minutes”? Does that mean the ball is in the air for 11 minutes? If so, that’s a odd definition of “in play”.

Fascinating – but how can American football be thrilling, then?

An actual game is only 15 minutes long, it just seems like 3 hours…

Ripley isn’t usually wrong. In every pro football game, the ball is in play for precisely two hours.

At least Detroit has won an NFL championship, in ’35, ’52, ’53 and ’57 the year I was born.

I am beginning to wonder if the NFL wanted the Pats to win, and thus made sure the Saints lost because they had a better chance of beating the Pats. Brady, Bellichek (sic) and Kraft are all Trump supporters. Trump could have influenced Roger Goodel and the NFL to fix the playoffs (like the election) to ensure HIS team won. These days ANYTHING is possible.
