Ahh, straw men, so much fun. We want everyone to vote who is eligible to vote and we want their vote counted as they cast it. No games with absentee ballots, or ballot harvesting or unreliable machines. Accessibility without accountability does not confer legitimacy either.
It says volumes about the GOP that they don’t support the idea that more eligible people should vote. If everyone who could vote did so, I wonder if the GOP would even exist anymore. I tend to think a new party would take their place and the GOP would go the way of extinct parties of years ago.
As a veteran I have learned not to threaten to get what I want. ‘nine different ways to kill you’ ‘just kidding’ is still a threat. Beware, the slippery slope of good intentions leading to evil acts.
Paul Weyrich is widely regarded as the “founding father of the conservative movement”. He founded ALEC and co-founded the Heritage Foundation, Moral Majority, Council for National Policy, and Free Congress Foundation, among others.
Speaking in 1980 at a right-wing conference in Dallas, Weyrich set out the case for voter suppression: “I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people…. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”
The right wing and GOP are still acting on his advice to this day. Why? Because it works!

If he’s a Republican, he has no intention of supporting what Melissa’s proposing. If he’s a Democrat, pissing off Trump is a plus.

But I thought the GOP loved war vets. They make so many of them.

They used to until the alt right kicked them out like any other rational members. I just changed parties to DEM this year.

This is insulting to every vet everywhere. Trudeau should be ashamed.
