just chekcing in to report that the gocomics nancy page is google chromes most visited page for me, surpassing both my school email and the site where i find all my assignments, which would probably be a “problem” or a “telling sign of a lack of motivation” or “indicative of a lazy work ethic” were i not a second semester senior.as such i am of the belief that it merely shows that i have a healthy appreciation for comics that dont have swear words in them
Nancy being kept on the sidelines here is really a valuable message the teacher is instilling. I appreciate that.
Fortunately, the rather snotty “magnet girl” is not the typical way most school kids behave who attend the types of magnet schools I am familiar with.
The ones I know about are sometimes whole schools, sometimes one classroom in a grade where students who have tested to some above average level are clustered together to allow their scholastic starting point for the academic year to be a bit different. That is typically it in my region.
Bad technique to have the tails of Nancy’s and Magnet Girl’s balloons overlapping in panel 2. For a moment it looks as though both balloons are attributed to Nancy.
Seems Heathcliff has decided to, somewhat late in the game, jump onto ‘________ is lit’. For two days now – let’s see if this carries us through the week!
Hmmm. The GWTW sequel, Alexandra Ripley’s Scarlett was published in 1991. This strip is from 1988? I think I remember a few years in which it was well known that a sequel was coming and that Ripley was writing it, so I guess this explains that aspect of this strip.

It seems we are in the second act of your standard issue sports movie, before the big redemptive arc.

Have we ever seen Sluggo and Magnet Girl in the same place at the same time?

Electric lighting? With a little tinkering you could rig up some electromagnets. Electromagnet school.

I stumbled across this today, purely by accident, from 1988:

That’s Jerry Scott’s Nancy, and I guess the Doyle-Sternecky Pogo that they’re referencing, and the GWTW sequel.
