When I was much, much younger, Woolworth’s and such sold boxes of All Occasion cards. They also sold boxes of 10 or 15 sympathy cards, which baffled me. Now that I am of a certain age, I understand completely.
most of the people I know get reminded of birthdays on a certain social network and sending regards is a click away. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it.

Not too many people remember the Woolworth stores as they have been gone a long time. Probably why I send out a lot of sympathy or condolence cards.

Sometimes I deliberately use a belated card because it’s funnier than a regular one.
