Per Wikipedia: Phillips is a Vietnam era veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 20 May 1972 to 5 May 1976,though he never fought in the Vietnam War or was deployed to Vietnam. Military records show that he spent his entire service as a refrigerator technician in Nebraska and California after being trained as an anti tank missileman. Phillips was on active duty from 12 August 1974 to 5 May 1976 as a refrigerator technician. He was discharged as a private following disciplinary issues, including three AWOL incidents. Phillips has said he was victimized for his role as a veteran.
Lalo often comes up with stuff that gets me thinking…
My wife is part Abenaki and part Mohawk.
She’s also an extremely talented nurse and diagnostician (retired now but she’s really good with both modern and Native American medicine – takes the best of what truly works in both and uses ’em to good effect.)
She also believes in giving back to the community and helping people with even less than we have.
…and what I am pondering this time around was the prejudice/blowoff shown by the local tribes up here (Maliseet, Wesget Sipu and Micmac) when she offered her (free) medical services to them to help out the people in the tribes who had bad health – and worse medical insurance. Guess they don’t want no filthy Mohawk helping ’em.
Ya know, Lalo, you don’t gotta be a lily-white Anglo (like me) to be racially prejudiced, alas.

When will we ever learn?
