I see she is irritated but in truth, if she slept through all the preparations and kerfuffle of going for a ride with the baby, she was out to the world.
My parents started spelling C-A-R and R-I-DE- until the dog figured out what they meant. Then it was “Voiture” and “Monter”. Had she lived another month or so, I have no doubt Flossie would have caught on to French, as well.
OMG if this doesn’t remind me of Alex…he would of have a fit if we didn’t take him in the car with us….he loved going for car rides, no matter where it was. His tail would start wagging and a big smile for us!
Shortly after I got my license, I took my father’s car for a short trip. My father was taking a nap, so I didn’t tell him. (In whatever defense this may offer me, I was going to a local drugstore to apply for a part time job.)
He got his revenge by waiting until I got home and telling me he had just gotten done reporting the car stolen. He strung me along for a good hour or two before he couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore. It worked, though – never took either his car or my mom’s car without permission again.

Let sleeping dogs lie, and they will lie to you all day long.

Most dogs wake up when you only think about going out somewhere
