Nothing wrong with having a lot of candidates. The number will rapidly decrease. That’s what a primary is for.
The large number is the result of Trump’s unpopularity, and the perception that whoever wins the primary will likely win the general. There usually isn’t a large field against an incumbent. Now there is.
It’s getting quite amusing to read all the advice to the Democrats on their choice of candidates from the NeverTrump conservative columnists. They are desperate for what they term a centrist and are combing the ranks of Democratic governors for attractive candidates. They may slack off now that Weld has announced the intention of a primary challenge to Trump.
Didn’t we make the same comments about the plethora of Republicans announcing for the 2016 election? Let’s see…. Jeb Bush. Ben Carson. Chris Christie. Ted Cruz. Carly Fiorina. Jim Gilmore. Lindsey Graham. Mike Huckabee. Bobby Jindal. John Kasich. George Pataki. Rand Paul. Rick Perry. Marco Rubio. Rick Santorum. Scott Walker.

They’re all better than what we have now.
I know, that’s not saying much, or anything at all, and I didn’t mean it the way it sounds.

We’ll probably never know. (Please, not Trump again! Please, please, please! But the Dems sure aren’t helping.)

Short answer Carmen..no, none of the democrat candidates are any good.
Trump is going to wallop any of them any way. His outstanding track record and outstanding results are greatly appreciated by Americans.

That beta guy seems decent – if he decides to run. The others seem to just run based on gender or race, not actual politics.
