Nice – quite a commentary on our thin-skinned times. I am all for liberal thought and inclusiveness.

But nowadays, it seems even the smallest indiscretion in someone’s past disqualifies them from redemption and acceptance as champions of human rights deny them the basic humanity of forgiveness.

Now, if it was a mockingbird, that would be a valid accusation.

Agreed. It seems that, to be electable, one must these days be a paragon … not just now, but since one’s inception.

It is no longer enough that a politician has learned to be either representative of a majority of his constituents or superbly adept at concealment (at least until someone does a google-images search on his ass) … he now must have been of exemplary character since birth.

God forbid we elect someone who told an off-color joke in grammar school once and learned tolerance from the experience. No, indeed. To be a valid leader, a candidate must have been “gifted” with perfect PC values (as currently contrived) at birth.: no “life lessons” will be permitted in our legislature.

    That, or well-paid resume scrubbers.

So, does that mean I can’t eat Chinese, or Mexican or Indian foods because I am white? Why can’t I SHOW how much I appreciate another culture? Am I only allowed to say I like it and that is it? Yet other cultures can wear, what to me is “American” clothes, yet not be accused of cultural appropriation going the other way. What about driving cars that are not American made (with all American parts – if you can find them)? The whole idea of cultural appropriation seems silly to me. So many people are TOO quick to judge and be upset for others and yet not worry about the example they are living. Why can’t we love and care for everyone? And SHOW it? (yes, there will be those whose mind goes in the gutter – that is not what I mean. Sigh)
