Back when I was in high school the definition of sound required vibrating object (transmitter), a transmitting medium and a receiver. It seems that the receiver has been dropped from the definition.
X-number of years ago: humans discover fire. They do not understand the technology. Fast forward x-number of years to now: humans discover their thumbs can communicate. They do not understand the technology. It’s true what grandma said: some things never change. sigh.
I’ve been seeing quite a few comics lately having fun with the old “tree falling in a forest” question. Maybe that’s because philosophical questions like this are utter nonsense and deserve to be made fun of.
“What is the sound of one hand clapping?” Bart Simpson answered that one by slapping his fingers onto the bottom part of his hand.
“Is the glass half empty or half full?” Bill Cosby answered that one: It depends if you’re drinking or pouring.

I just hate it when I’m in the forest and a satellite falls on it

No, because the satellite is pictures only. No sound in the vacuum of space.

If a man is speaking in the forest, and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
