Splitface is going to be around for a while, I think. How does the other story with the guy tied up, the knife, etc fit into the mix? Intriguing, I will stay tuned!
About the last two days . . . Chester Gould would sometimes introduce something new in the middle of a story, but he did it with flair. He would put up a narration box with something like “excuse us, but it is very important that we see what is happening in a warehouse on the other side of town” or similar. That, plus he had larger panels to work with, and more panels per day, somehow made his story jumps smoother. Unless Mike can figure a way to do the same, he should probably quit these drastic jumps, and finish one story before starting the next. Again, he has stated that he is a huge fan of Gould’s work; he should go back and study the master. Just my humble suggestion.
He gave Vitamin a wrist wizard but Vitamin didn’t see Zelda get kidnapped. What’s this about a “panic alarm?” Is that what he is calling the wrist wizard now?
Is today’s strip implying that Jack is involved in the kidnapping or is this just something else that is irrelevant and takes up panel space for no purpose? If this is trying to imply that Jack is involved, we have had no indication of that and there has been no indication that Jack does anything wrong except drink too much. If Jack is complicit in this kidnapping, when did he and Splitface collude on the plan? What was Jack’s active role? Otherwise, what’s the point of the implication?
I second almost everything Ken in Ohio commented on. Gould seldom interrupted a story to tease a new villain, but as stated, did it much more smoothly and less intrusive. I find it hard to believe the artist is a “huge fan of Gould”, but if so, I concur, he needs some remedial work. Dick gets 3 panels today. That’s his February quota probably, as “The Bold and the Ugly” moves slowly onward
Tracy’s disdain for A Chin to Die For is a much responsible for Zelda’s peril as is the dereliction of Officer Harder-But-Not-Smarter-Head (and Chief Patton should not be making excuses for him). At a minimum, we have clarified that all these events of the past week and more have taken place at the Patterson Playhouse and not at Locher Auditorium. How about instead of standing around and moaning, you get yourself saddled up, Tracy?
While I applaud Vitamin’s attempt to do something, I am dubious that Jack Magnus can offer any substantial help (but it still possible that he will end up as Cannon fodder and a therefore sympathetic dead drunk)….

Security is napping now
Right there in the dirt.
Splitface dropped him to the curb
Made sure he was hurt.
Fine Zelda’s been abducted
No high-diving for her.
Fake usher fabricated
The rest a violent blur.
Flintheart sticks his beak in
Asking Magus what he knows.
Zelda could be dead by now
The desperation grows.

Good morning™, opening night skippers!
Looks like Vitamin is doing a bit of investigation himself. I’m sure he will feed the answers to the MCU.

Jack is a worried man. Will another old time Tracy cast member be going into the sunset ?

Random guess about the last two days: Splitface was “created” by the sportswriter torturing him.

It was way too early to conclude it. Split Face was just getting started.

Good Morning™ Crimewatchers!
Jack, remember what they say in those PSA’s: “if you see something, say something”. Better yet, if you know what happened, report what happened.

Well, at least we get to see Tracy again. I thought maybe he had taken a vacation from this strip.
