Freedom of the Press is subject to “reasonable restrictions” just like Hillary said when discussing the 2nd Amendment and she said, "If it is a Constitutional right (It is but apparently she didn’t know) it like all other rights are subject to “reasonable restriction”. That cost her my vote when she thinks her ideas of reasonable can change the Constitution.
I don’t like Trump but there was no other choice. He was the lesser of two evils literally.
I’d like to thank everyone who has made comments, and comments on the comments, for remembering the rules of civil discourse. You’ve agreed to disagree while respecting all the viewpoints here. This is so rare!
And this whole discussion is a nice example of why I’m glad I no longer depend on local hard-copy “news” sources for anything. Due to the mechanics of delivery of printed material, there is only a very small set of locally-available sources, and they clearly consider it acceptable to censor even such trivial things as the background smudges in the comics. This tells me a lot about how reliable they might be for more serious stories that have a real effect on their customers. It’s essentially impossible for internet sources to control what I read, so that’s now a much better news source. Note that I’m saying that it’s all true; we all (should;-) know better than that. It’s just that a delivery medium that can’t suppress offensive material is inherently more trustworthy that a delivery medium that can and does respond to a trivial offense by blocking the source for all their readers.
Probably this one is another in Pastis’ collection of strips ridiculing the braindead Comics Censors, and has nothing to do with Wiley. That said, however: The Kansas City Star joined the other cowardly newspapers in dropping the strip. (To add insult to injury, they replaced it with “Nancy”!) But they printed (mutltiple times) Trump’s idiotic comments about bleephole countries and his contemptible comments about grabbing bleep, WITHOUT the bleeps. (And, of course, we all know hypocrites who clutch their pearls at so-called “cuss words”, yet have no problem at all writing, saying, or bellowing ethnic, racial, and religious slurs.) To paraphrase conservative pundit George Will’s comment about Trump, “What a sad, embarrassing wreck of a newspaper.”

I thought Gocomics was more open to personal opinions, but I guess not.

Stephan should use a contractor. His alignment is messy. He should be stripped of his rank. Maybe it is his strip which is rank.

Nice try Steve, but maybe you should stick to Timmy Failure

Looks like a sinking strip. Pastis, will you go down with the strip?

Is this like a misprint dollar bill? Should we save it and take to a collector really quick (once everyone gets there, it won’t be “rare” anymore!)???

Is this an oblique reference to Non Sequitr getting booted from some newspapers?
SusanSunshine Premium Member almost 6 years ago
Sucks when publishers require all their strips to have a particular slant.

just like the old SNL skit, …….what the Klingons and Romulans
could not do, …what hand phasers, the ship’s phasers and photon torpedoes could not do was to defend the Enterprise from
all alien attacks. the entity that DID defeat the Enterprise and Captain Kirk was the brass at NBC

If the timeline wasn’t too short, I would think this was for Wiley Miller.

Don’t be too alarmed, Creator. We can censor that newspaper as they censored the comic.
Sportymonk almost 6 years ago
This is a comic for families. Obscenities should be censored. The authors know the rules. Even television used to have a code of ethics. (long gone)

So Red Skelton says to Al Capp, “What kind of work do you do?”
Al Capp says, “I do a comic strip.”
Red Skelton says, “OK, go ahead and undress. I enjoy a good laugh.”
