    SPOILER ZONE

I’m suddenly getting flashbacks to the pouncing lesson in The Lion King.

The crafty ham sandwich makes its escape! You may get another chance at it, minus a bite or two.

Little detail, Beatrix lashing her tail in panel 3. At least, I think that’s what those quotation marks around her tail mean.

The People have lived with you a long time, Puck. It will take more than that to nab their food.

When I got out of the service (1970) I started carrying a Westclox Baby Ben pocket watch (they were only $1.50 at the time, cheaper to replace when they finally broke than to fix) and tied a fancy-work watch fob from a bootlace. I was visiting a friend with a 6 month old kitten, who “stalked” everywhere, and saw Kitten in the middle of the living room. I took out the watch and slid it across the carpet (with the fob dragging behind it). Kitten pounced on it, and, grabbing it by the fob, carried it to the side of the room, flipped over on his back and “disemboweled” it. He was quite proud of himself.

Puck looks like he’s about to deliver the food slap my guys use to get food away from me. One mighty slap, the food goes flying, usually to the floor, and then it’s in play.

David Cattenborough here in the Big Pink House where ham sandwiches have gathered on the table. Pickles are close by, using the sandwiches for cover. On this table, any slip by the sandwiches could result in the five second rule if it hits the floor.

The black three legged cat, the best climber in the Pink House, watches. He’s there along with a young kitten. She must learn quickly how to catch these ham sandwiches if she’s to help bring food back to the pack.

Carefully, they position themselves beside their prey. They are now within striking distance. But the sandwich knows something is up. Then, suddenly, the sandwich disappears from the plate, grabbed by the Man. And the kitten learns a valuable lesson in keeping fellow predators in sight.

Off topic: Good computer news! I’m on my computer again at home! (Proof is it’s 5:45 a.m. too early to be on a library computer.) Thanks for the good wishes Monday. Sue Ellen and Bill Jackson, you both nailed it athat nothing was wrong. I took my tower in yesterday, dreading the verdict. The tech (Geek Squad at Best Buy) also said it sounded like my mother board was fried but he plugged it in and it came right up! No problem. He didn’t even charge me. He explained that if they can just look at your computer, it’s free. If you leave the computer with them, it’s $100+ just to leave and that’s not counting any repairs. My major tip I want to leave everyone is that what cured it was the drive to town with the computer unplugged. Sometimes unplugging for at least half an hour allows it to sort itself out without the need for human assistance. Of course, if that doesn’t work, then you know you’re in for something probably costing mega bucks.

Careful with that elbow, Lupin. You don’t want to accidentally send that coffee cup over the edge into doom.

Happy Humpday! Puck, if you want a sandwich you and Beatrix can practice on, I have a half of a corned beef on rye with swiss cheese the two of you can use.

That’s why the quiet stalk is so important!

It’s funny how the sandwich is right next to the edge of the table in panel 2 and then is suddenly further back in panel 3, like it’s making an escape just in time.

According to Georgia, the expression “Oh Buttons!” came from a friend during an Easter Egg hunt while wearing an Easter Bunny costume. Being surrounded by kids, he accidentally stumbled and lost his footing but had the presence of mind to not use a more forceful expletive.

There is also an expression – “My arse was making buttons”, a less vulgar way of stating one was “evacuating bricks”.

I got out the forgotten but always favorite pork rinds last night for the dogs. Well I forgot just how much KK the calico loves pork rinds too. She must have smelled when I opened the container (a brand new barrel from Sam’s). I only fished out 2. Don’t want to give the boys too much at a time. By the time I got back to the bedroom with the prize KK was waiting patiently in the treat line with her dog brothers. I love my furry children they are too funny. The other 3 didn’t show but when she tells them what she got they’ll be mad.

My turn to ask for some Orb love. My sister-in-law was supposed to be having her plumbing reconnected today (they had to give her a “temporary” colostomy after a terrible diverticulitis episode some months ago). The surgery was supposed to take 3 hours. She was still in after 6 hours and I’m told they had to call in a gynecologist to deal with something unexpected. My brother has severe anxiety in hospitals at the best of times & I know he will be exhausted and climbing the walls at the same time. Please pray for “KB” and her Orb!
