Well of course, Raymond. You should have thought of that when you came in. When you have a smaller dog like Artie, you have to look out for him!

It is hard to beat a musical by Doggers and Weimeraner. They had the formula down pat. Ow ow ow ow Oklahounda!

    Oooh…. Look, Cleo pals!

Doggers and Weimaraner’s very first musical collaboration….

    the enduringly popular “Oklahounda” …

Is Stel’s poster for the *January 14th, 2021* “Cleo and Company” on Sherpa!

    So many memories!

I confess, some of this I have told before….

My parents bought the stage musical recording of Oklahounda when I was very little, then took us all to see the movie when it was new.

They loved it… and I grew up loving it too …

And singing (very badly!) those now well-known tunes….

imitating Gloria Grrram’s twangy howling of "I’m Just a Dog Who Cain’t Hear ‘No!’ " …

trying to do high kicks like the impossibly-limber-for-a-basset Charlotte Greenbone’s Old Aunt Yeller…

and, of course, attempting duets with myself….

switching between a childish tenor for Gordy MacHound, and a squeaky falsetto for the lovely Shirley JoBasset….

    “Don’t put… your paw on mine….”

“But I saw…. how you gnaw on mine….”

    “No! Don’t put… your paw on mine…

People will say I’m in heat!"

The humans didn’t steal this poster for their movie…. I believe they copied it for their sheet music:

    I haven’t seen a production of it in years…

I suppose it’s considered hopelessly old fashioned, and some parts are dated.

But I’d still love to get another chance.

    @Nighthawks and & @StelBel

Would it be OK for you if I provided the direct link to your pictures on tumblr one day later here to make it easier for late-comers to pair it with the comments here?

    I. e. post today’s link here not today, but tomorrow here?

I will provide the link https://cleoandcompany.tumblr.com/ daily, of course – as soon as your daily art is there.

Many moons ago, A circus was visiting Idabelle, Oklahoma and a baby elephant escaped. Disappeared into the forested mountains for three or four months!

When finally rounded up, a local paper noted that he had been out measuring the corn.

    “Oh, what a beau-ti-ful moorrning …”

I sure did enjoy “Oklahounda”. Good music and good cast. Even has a good ‘bad guy’ in it.

Thanks for the ear worm for today, Stel.
