So not true. From one manipulated statistic to one hastily drawn inference to one horribly masturbatory conclusion. Three thirds of the cartoonists of this strip are fans of self-flagellation.
I understand it now but hope you’ll forgive that I really enjoyed the minstrel shows at church when I was 5 to 9 back in the late ’40’s and early ’50’s. (Guilty! I still enjoy remembering them)
I can easily see that dressing as “black” is offensive. But I think people are over reacting if someone chooses to dress as a specific person. People have always dressed as their heroes (rock stars, sports legends, etc) or their anti-heroes (politicians). And when costuming, make-up is part of the deal. Racism is casting aspersions on a population, known individuals are a completely different matter.

One third of American? That be about 90% of republicans.

According to the second panel, if I go out in the sun and get a heavy tan, I’m suddenly part of a different race?

So I guess that means no more Halloween ghost costumes. And so long Casper; no such thing as a friendly racist. [snerk]

Well, I don’t see a problem with whiteface used for costumes either, so…
