I was almost exempted for being completely flat-footed, but I guess they were really desperate at the time.

I did have to have orthopedic inserts made for my boots when I was in jump school.

My 4F came as the result of a technology vs nature incident just weeks before I was to report for my physical.

I got out of it on a typographical error; they tried when I was 8, not 18.

I beat the draft…by ENLISTING in the Navy during Vietnam.

I was a legitimate 4-F. My MD was a full Colonel in US Army Reserves so nothing nefarious went on to avoid service. Still, while I remain grateful that I avoided that maelstrom I remain haunted that some my peers went undiagnosed and ended up in Vietnam….

Didn’t work for me. “Has done various things, will not interfere with military service,” then my A-1 draft status.

My dad (a WWII front line infantry PFC in Europe) always said there’d be no more wars if the Congressmen’s sons were required to all be privates on the front lines.

I was a legit deferment, missing some amputated pieces of my left hand. The weird thing was that when I got my draft card, the good bureaucrats in Glenview honored me with a 1-Y medical deferment. That kept me out only until the condition cleared up. 70 years later, and I’m still missing those pieces. 8^)

I was in my 2nd year of college when I got my notice, my whole life flashed before my eyes. I applied to USAF ROTC, passed all the exams for aviation, got accepted, graduated as both a BS in engineering and a 2nd Lt. Went to pilot training, graduated, and a year later I was bombing Hanoi from 200’, which is really down in the weeds folks. I only wish someone was there to bomb Hanoi when the orange haired pretender was there recently. That dude pretending to be a president is one huge fat arsed coward, does not deserve the office he stole, he needs to be out.
