Oh My DEAR GOD!! I see THESE PEOPLE all the time waddling around the local Mall-Wart where I live here in Kentucky! SERIOUSLY, this is NO EXAGGERATION!!!
This seems kind of like it was phoned in. No doubt there are people like this, but some of their neighbors (who don’t look terribly different, and who have the same regional accent) voted the other way. I dislike seeing entire regions written off because their Red:Blue ratio is not identical to mine. (I live in a Blue state, but that doesn’t mean everyone in my area listens to Mozart and wears a shirt on Saturday morning.)
The only way to change their minds is to make their lives better. For example the man wearing the MAGA hat used to be a Democrat when he had a great job working in a Union shop. Then his world fell apart when free trade agreements began and his job went to third world countries with no sweat shop or indentured labor laws. Middle age and limited skills outside of what he was trained to do left him working low-paying jobs and sometimes two or more to feed and protect his family. Infrastructure is sorely in need of his skills but our administration would rather build an unnecessary wall around our country. Like Franklin D. Roosevelt we need to get busy repairing our country and building the finest public transportation systems in the world because the greed of manufacturers won’t allow his previous job to come back. Private industry will rise to support and benefit from this as has happened in the past. Franklin may have stretched the laws to put people to work when he did this but it was the right thing to do.
So what’s the solution here? There is some much difference within the country, and in so many different ways. How do we come together to live us one? Name calling and making fun of each other won’t work. Just like cycle of violence, cycle of ridicule feeds upon itself.
Hey now, Trump, and Trump Country, is places like New York City. The banks. Wall Street. State legislative bodies which made it possible for him to lie, cheat and steal his way to a real estate “kingdom”. Trump Country is media execs that put him in movies like “Home Alone” and “Zoolander” and made him look like some kind of roguish, playful scamp and not the turd he is. Folks that let him “star” in TV. Folks that let him be a voice in sports, like football and wrestling. Folks that let him sponsor, and destroy events like Miss America. Folks like the Clinton’s and the Bush’s who let him pal around with politicians and buy political favor.
That’s Trump Country, boys and girls, right there. The rich, powerful and intelligent(?) of America who allowed a worm like Trump to matastisize and grow into what he is. They allowed him to look cool. Glamorous. Tough.
No wonder the plebes all think he’s some kind of working class hero. The rest of us spent the last 40 years letting the Trump mystique grow. Can you blame them if they believed it?
Danziger: Your hatred for the working class always comes through loud and clear, you middle-class elitist. And you just can’t figure out why Clinton lost, can you?
Jeff, time to turn it down a notch or three. Way over the line. I consider myself a liberal but this offends the hell out of me-especially since I’m from Alabama. Maybe you could come visit and I could give you a tour.
Oh Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. Just because Trump communicates like an infant does mean you must follow. The folks you disparage know things you and I do not. Don’t be like Trump!

Trump loves the ignorant, they vote for him.

The United States should be renamed “Trumpistan”. Much of our interior has more in common with “Stan” countries than with other western democracies.

I don’t think this type of cartoon is helpful. Ridiculing the people we disagree with is not going to change their minds.

Fun fact: If you darken the skin tones of the characters, the cartoon will appear to be from 1930.

Trump’s base isn’t known for their basic understanding of politics.
