One of my friends had a huge tree uprooted and laid flat in his front yard during a storm. He called his insurance agent and the guy said to make sure they got pictures of it, and he would send the office a picture to get him reimbursed for the cost of removing the tree.
He and his wife went out into yard and their Chihuahua went crazy, and finally the wife caught it, snapped on a leash, and wrapped that onto one of the exposed roots. They took pictures and sent them to the agent, he said to go ahead and take care of the tree, the claim would be filed.
A couple of weeks later he got a check from the insurance company, and it had a “claims note” on the check— Dog pulled over tree, no deductible applied.
