Asking for good thoughts and crossed fingers (and paws) today. I’m interviewing this morning for a job where I would actually get to use my education, finally.
Lupin, why are you being so mean to Elvis? He stood back and let you eat, didn’t he? Maybe tomorrow we will see a picture of Beatrix, sound asleep and blissed out after her breakfast.
I like the BCN and other things on the refrigerator. Georgia always draws from real life.
P.S., My heartfelt thanks to everyone for yesterday. I want you to know, all those nice things said, and all the Likes, truly helped. This is a good community.
I need help from the ORB. I was at the local shelter making a donation – the vet associated with them will come to your house to put your cat down so they don’t have to be stressed, the fee being a donation to the shelter. Oh god, I’m crying again. I miss Sky so much. Anyhow, I went in to see the cats to make myself feel better. Cats always make me feel better. By herself, because she was on a special diet, was a ten year old tortie/tabby, name of Cinnamon. She also has a limp, by the way, we think the result of a long-ago accident of some kind. Well, I’m elderly myself; I have vowed to get only old cats from now on so I won’t outlive them, which is why Cinnamon was in the shelter. Of course I adopted her. All went well for the first two weeks, I even woke up one night to find one on each side of me. Then, Cinnamon, feeling much more at home, started hissing, just a little “back off” hiss at first. Now, she’s getting more aggressive, and little Layla is dismayed. Can I do anything at this point? Cinnamon was in an enclosure for the first five days, though Layla is such a picky eater and so shy, I could never get them to eat together, separated by the fence. Some cats are better with cats than humans (the real-life Elvis), some, like Cinnamon, a real love bug with humans, but stand-offish and worse with cats. Suggestions?
I got Grumpy McGrumpy face and the cold shoulder from Dean this morning. I’m apparently the meanest, awful-est person in the world because I wouldn’t let them out on the back deck this morning … at 5:20am as I was trying to get ready for work. We’ll see if the grumpy pants are still on when I get home :)
Some sad news.My pet sitters cat, Fidgett, was put down this morning. He was not eating for a while and we hoped when he coughed up this huge hairball that was it. After that he did start eating again and everything looked good. Then he started losing weight again. She found out that he had adenocarcinoma in the lungs. A type of cancer. So she made the painful but best decision for Fidgett. Send Hugs to her.
On the good news front: Patch was quickly accepted at Save-a-Pet, and they think he will have no trouble finding his forever home and person. Now, of course, we miss him.
One stray cat rescued, Cat only knows how many more to go.
Old, miserable grump are you sure you can hear Lupin? It’s just when you get a certain age the hearing starts to go along with the sense of humor. I mean Miscreant and Ichy are both 15 and are sweet as sugar and their hearing OK but I think maybe Elvis you may have a case of Old Fogeyitis.

Aw, Lupin, that’s mean. I hope we get to see more of Lupin’s sweet and adventurous sides soon. He’s been kind of a brat lately.

That also describes my recent trips in my car. Except I’ve recently discovered that I’VE become the old grump.

Cat’s eye in the sky? Hit the myoosic!
When I spy and too crazy to rest
Gonna go to the place that’s the best
When I lay me down to spy
Goin’ up to cat’s eye in the sky
Goin’ up to cat’s eye in the sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I spy
When I spy and too crazy to rest
Gonna go to the place that’s the best
Prepare yourself you know it’s a must
Gotta have a friend you can trust
So you know that when you spy
He’s gonna recommend you
To cat’s eye in the sky
Gonna recommend you
To cat’s eye in the sky
That’s where you’re gonna go when you spy
When you spy and too crazy to rest
You’re gonna go to the place that’s the best
Never been a singer I never singed
I got a friend I can trust
So you know that when I spy
He’s gonna meet me up at
Cat’s eye in the sky
Oh meet me up at cat’s eye in the sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I spy
When I spy and too crazy to rest
I’m gonna go to the place that’s the best
Go to the place that’s the best
