Sounds like a good plan to me. Think I’ll try it and see if the maple syrup tastes good with green beans.
I covered all the foods I didn’t like with ketchup when a kid. Now I hate ketchup, too.
Wilberforce apparently tried to follow the advice of Mary Poppins: “A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down”.
Try chocolate next time.

I eat my peas with honey—I’ve done it all my life—it makes the peas taste funny—but it keeps them on my knife.
I prefer the Southern cooking solution. Cook them with a piece of bacon in them. It improves the flavor immensely. However, my wife is allergic to pork. Instead using artificial bacon bits, or chicken bouillon cubes has worked.
So I’ll just have the maple syrup and leave the string beans to others.
