My parents did the opposite. All sorts of things were explained to us so we would know the truth about them and how they worked. Among other things, we were told how movies (in the 1950s/60s – precomputer) had green screen shots and how things went backwards by filming them upside down going forwards and then reversing the film – we have a film with a section where my sister jumps out of a pool that I helped my dad fix up to look like same.
