I never knew it was supposed to be half-mast “only until noon”. Of course, in this day and age, it’s usually at half-mast most days due to some shooting.
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, was held on May 30 from 1868 to 1970. Then we went to three day weekends for most holidays, helping obscure the meaning.
I wish more people honored the flag traditions instead of mounting it on a pole on the back of their pickup and running around at 60mph, shredding the flag to bits. Destroying the flag is not honoring it.
