Reminds me of the ducks at the IJsselmeer. They eat out of your hand, whether you want them or not.

I used to stay in a cottage on Lake Huron in Michigan during the summer and one evening as I sat outside enjoying some smoked trout I watched the seagulls coming in from the lake to roost on shore. I wondered if they would detect the remains of my trout if I laid it out on the rocks.2 seagulls came down and devoured the late day snack leaving only the bones. In the morning even the bones were gone. I wonder who ate the bones?

I saw once, at Reid State Park in Maine, a couple of guys playing bocce ball on the beach. A gull flew down, grabbed the jack (the small white ball), and flew off with it in its beak. The gull dropped the ball on some rocks maybe 100 feet away, probably to crack it open and get whatever tasty spherical clam was inside. When nothing happened, the gull flew off, and the guys had to clamber over the rocks to retrieve the ball.

Rule number one of seagulls. NEVER assume there’s just one.

Same thing happened to me and my dog with a pack of coyotes one morning while jogging. My dog wanted to play. The coyotes wanted breakfast.

Oh, goodness, this is me everytime my family eats at the dinner table with my sister’s collie. I like him the rest of the time, but not when he’s standing, 6 inches away from my elbow, panting with his stinky breath. You can shoo him away, but he’ll be back in two minutes.
